The American Dream of Cunningham
Tom Sangen has beautifully portrayed the Cunningham C4R in his own style. The atmosphere of the 50s and the speed of the Mulsanne straight are clearly highlighted.
The Cunningham team was founded by Briggs Cunningham. A skilled entrepreneur who was born in a wealthy family. From his own interest he started to develop sports cars in which he also raced himself. In the early years of the 50s, the team announced to take part in Le Mans which startled the established order...
In 1952, Cunningham managed to finish 4th overall in LeMans with the C4R. The best result was obtained in 1954 when the 12h of Sebring was won and also on LeMans the victory was taken in their own class (3rd overall).
Tom is still very intrigued by the races of 50's, 60's and 70's, especially since the drivers were then at real risk and lived for their dream.
